Aquaria · Last updated: September 18, 2026

NerdForm Labs LLC ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Aquaria mobile application ("App"). Aquaria is an interactive aquarium encyclopedia — a reference and planning tool for fishkeeping hobbyists. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

Aquaria does not require you to create an account. There is no sign-up, sign-in, or profile of any kind — you can use the entire App, including your wishlist and "My Fish" list, without ever providing us any identifying information.

1.2 Contact / Support Messages

If you use the "Contact us" feature (in Settings or from the "Can't find your fish?" card on Discover), we receive:

If you leave the email field blank, we have no way of identifying you or responding — the message is simply informational feedback to us.

1.3 Advertising Data

Aquaria shows ads (via Google AdMob) to free users, and offers an optional one-time purchase ("Aquaria Pro") that removes ads and unlocks extra content. To do this, the App and its ad/purchase partners may collect or process:

On EEA/UK devices, we ask for your consent before showing personalized ads, using Google's User Messaging Platform. You can change your ad choices at any time from Settings → Ad privacy options inside the App.

1.4 Analytics Data

We use Mixpanel to understand how the App is used (e.g. which screens are opened, which features are used, app opens/updates) so we can improve it. This includes a randomly generated device identifier and basic usage events — it is not tied to your name or contact details unless you separately email us through the Contact form.

1.5 Information We Do NOT Collect

2. Data Stored on Your Device

Your wishlist, the fish you mark as owned (with quantities), and your language and unit preferences (cm/inches, °C/°F, liters/gallons) are stored locally on your device so the App remains usable across sessions. This data is never transmitted to us and is removed automatically if you uninstall the App or clear its storage.

3. How We Use Your Information

Data Purpose Retention
Support/contact message Read, respond to, and act on feedback, bug reports, or feature requests Until resolved, or until you ask us to delete it
Optional email address Reply to your message, if provided Until resolved, or until you ask us to delete it
Wishlist / "My Fish" list / preferences Local app functionality only — never sent to us Stored on your device until you delete the App
ℹ️ No accounts, no sale of data: Aquaria has no login system, and we never sell your personal information. The App does use Google AdMob (ads) and Mixpanel (analytics) as described in sections 1.3–1.4 above, and RevenueCat/the app stores to process the optional "Aquaria Pro" purchase.

4. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services:

Service Provider Data Shared Purpose
EmailJS EmailJS Inc. Your support message and optional email address Delivers your message to our support inbox without routing it through our own servers
Google Fonts Google LLC Your device's IP address (standard web request) Loads the App's typefaces at runtime
Google AdMob Google LLC Advertising ID, ad interaction data, device/app info, general location (IP-based) Shows and measures in-app ads to free users; consent is collected first for EEA/UK users
Mixpanel Mixpanel Inc. Device identifier, app usage events (screens viewed, features used) Helps us understand how the App is used so we can improve it
RevenueCat RevenueCat, Inc. Purchase/subscription status, anonymized purchase receipts Verifies and manages the optional "Aquaria Pro" purchase across devices

Each third-party service is governed by its own privacy policy:

5. Data Storage and Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

While we take reasonable precautions, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

6a. European Economic Area / UK Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we process the data described above under the following legal bases: your consent (for personalized ads and analytics, collected via an in-app consent form before any such data is processed), our legitimate interest (for non-personalized ads, fraud prevention, and improving the App), and performance of a contract (for processing your optional "Aquaria Pro" purchase). In addition to the rights listed above, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. You may withdraw consent at any time from Settings → Ad privacy options without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through the Contact form, please contact us at contact@nerdform.org and we will delete it.

8. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

9. International Users

The App is operated from the United States. If you use the App from outside the U.S., data you send us through the Contact form may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Contact feature, you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we add optional cloud sync or account features in the future. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
